Comfort Food (2026)

15 min   |   English   |  Dir. Reena Dutt

After the death of her husband, Lisa, an Indian-American activist chef from Oakland, meets Anni—her estranged mother-in-law, a Japanese-American Southerner whose grief has hardened into isolation. Over the course of a brief visit, the two women are forced into uneasy proximity as loss, resentment, and cultural difference surface.

Comfort Food is an intimate dramedy about grief, inheritance, and identity—examining how the ways we survive loss can both divide and connect us.

An AFI DWW+ film.
